Festival of South Asia

Bookmark and Share
Hi there everyone!!

Long time, no blog. Hopefully this will make up for it.

See Me Live!

Festival of South Asia Literary Arts Workshop with blind visionary, Danish Ahmed. This Saturday, July 15, I will be presenting a keynote presentation called “Maximizing Your Diversity to Achieve Success in the Arts” at the Festival of South Asia (Literary Arts Workshop).

Mix and mingle at Noon at the Gerrard Ashdale Library (1432 Gerrard Street East) with refreshments served. :)

Multi-Media & Interactive

We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.I’m blind, but I know it’s all about visuals. Experience a multi-sensory spectrum of song and games as we expand our consciousness and nurture our communities. Let’s love the world together…

Plus, all the visuals in the presentation are different than the ones in this blog post.

Tackle Turmoil, Trauma & Terror

When I stop struggling, I float. It is the law.Overcome personal struggles and uncover your authentic self.

We’ll discuss the four inner conversations that keep us trapped in misery and how shifting our perspective can alter our paradigm of behavior.

Who Are You, Really?

What’s Your Problem?

I don't fix problems. I fix my thinking. The problems fix themselves. We’ll empathize with the spectrum of challenges that we all may endure.

Then, we’ll unlock the secret that can transform our thoughts, and transcend our circumstances.

It’s all about our meta-problems.

My Signature Formula: L. A. S. T.

I may not be your first love, first kiss, or first date. But I want to be your last everything. All my presentations are different (improvised, channeled, catering to the energy of the room), and yet many of them use my clever acronym, L. A. S. T., to convey lessons in the areas of listening, acknowledging, and sharing.

What’s the “T” for, you may ask?

Come to the workshop and you’ll find out.

Strategies to Create Support

Kindness is not an act, it's a lifestyle. It’s not about doing something once; it’s about creating a habit.

We’ll show you great groups and associations that can guide you further on your personal growth journey.

Choose your lifestyle by proactively picking your activities, friends, and communities.

What’s Your Special Uniqueness?

Nobody is inferior or superior. Nobody is equal, either. Everyone is unique and incomparable.Humanity is ready for your gifts.

We don’t have to be great in order to start, but we do need to start if we want to be great.

We may be able to count the seeds in an apple, but we cannot fathom how many apples can come from a seed.

We’ll be planting, watering, and shining light on your seeds, and creating a colourful and fragrant garden.

The “Fun” Improv Class

SecondCityLogoI’ve been studying improvisation and comedy for twenty years now. You may have seen me on video during a show, but I have yet to teach a class!!

Well, I did volunteer at my sister’s school and teach improve to grades 3 through 6. I even dressed up as some goofy cartoon character! But this will be my first facilitation of improv to adults.

Don’t worry, I’ll still be just as playful, if you promise to misbehave…

It’s Play Time! Game On!

Hold Your Shoes - Go Inside this Lego House!Don’t you want to feel like you’re in grade three again? It’s amazing how such simple games can help us in every scene of our lives. Find the great games in your life, and play them well.

Your first game is to make it to our workshop, this Saturday at noon. It's at the Gerrard Ashdale Library (1432 Gerrard Street, Toronto).

Come by and say, "Peek-A-Boo!"

Let’s love the world together…

Love,
[)anish /|hmed, blind visionary

After the Show

Some of the writers from the Progressive Writer’s Association will discuss how Bollywood films influence our reality. There will also be a book launch of “Autumn Love” by Harjit Dhillon who explores how modern women integrate their professionalism with their traditional Indian heritage.
